Fortnite will be ramping up its Halloween theme soon, as Epic Games release the first teaser for an upcoming 'Fortnitemares' feature.
Fortnite is having a Halloween event isn’t a surprise. We’ve been seeing Halloween decorations pop up all over the map for weeks now, we’ve had a vaguely Halloween-themed challenge, and we’ve had the return of one of the game’s most sought-after skins in the form of Skull Trooper. But the actual event was bound to be coming our way at some point, and now it seems like Epic is starting to tease it. ‘Fortnitemares’ is on its way, and we got our first hint about it today. Epic tweeted out this little limerick this morning:

Costumes and dancing,
Partner up, be wise.
They could be friendly,
Or a ghoul in disguise. #Fortnitemarespic.twitter.com/vOasjQEj1k

It also tweeted a picture out of a slick-looking Cowboy zombie, likely the male counterpart of the Ghoul Trooper skin, albeit already a little more advanced than the original. The limerick itself is a little obtuse and seems to be hinting at a new duos mode that somehow involves dancing and mistaken/hidden identities. There’s not much more to go off of here, but we do know that Epic has been pretty wide-ranging with its recent limited time modes. Disco Domination is basically a large-scale zone control mode with a sort of a dancing twist, and the recent high-stakes mode was a kind of free-roaming multi-team capture the flag concept. There’s no reason to assume we’ll be getting anything less baroque when Forntnitemares debuts soon.
Look for more information in the next few days: Epic likes to drop teasers in the immediate run-up to an announcement or beginning of a season, and so I wouldn’t expect a giant gap in-between this initial tease and the event itself. We’ll likely be getting full details today or tomorrow, followed by the event itself with next week’s patch on either Tuesday or Wednesday.
When Fortnitemares arrives we can expect a limited time mode, a little bit of free loot to go along with a suite of challenges and some premium skins to make sure that Epic gets paid. The recent High Stakes event remains sort of the model, but it’s also possible Epic is going to get a little more ambitious.
